WORD ON THE STREET (GREENS!)
According to the Met Office, rainfall in September 2024 saw 95% more rainfall than its September average in England.
With the rainfall giving us no option but to close for a couple of days in early October, we concentrated on our Greens maintenance - a deep verti-drain followed by solid tining, dressing with straight sand and brushing in.
We then over seeded and fertilised. As golfers we all hate the sandy greens! It won't be there for long! This work we do is essential to keep the Greens healthy and playable through the winter months.
The guys all worked really hard to get this work done in weather conditions that were not ideal.
We also had to do some emergency drainage work. This will be ongoing through the winter months. Once the rain stopped, we managed to get plenty of cutting done.
We have started verti draining some fairway areas to try and get water into the drainage systems, this work will carry on when the weather allows.
Phil has been doing great work again tidying areas up on the 9th and 11th.
The leaves are falling and we are busy collecting them as quickly as they fall, to keep the course playable!
